Nottingham Forest vs Watford – Match Preview

David Vaughan is expected to return to the Nottingham Forest line-up following his three-match suspension.

Winger Ryan Mendes suffered a knock during the goalless draw with QPR but should be involved.

For Watford, Nordin Amrabat and Costel Pantilimon are in line to make their full debuts with up to six first-team players set to be rested.

Hornets’ defenders Tommie Hoban (groin) and Joel Ekstrand (knee) remain unavailable.

Editor’s Note: Dougie Freedman’s side are currently undergoing a 13 game unbeaten run and they will look to make it at least 14 with the visit of Premier League side Watford this Afternoon.

It’s been quite the reversal of fortune for Dougie Freedman since November’s 1-0 defeat to local rivals Derby County. After that defeat many were tipping him for the sack but thankfully for him owner Fawaz Al Hawasi kept the faith and is now reaping the benefits of a rejuvenated Forest side.

Freedman’s side still have some work to do if they are to make the Play-Offs this season as Forest currently sit 11th in the Championship so this Afternoon the focus will be trying to claim a Premier League scalp in the form of Watford.

Watford are having an impressive season back in the Premier League this season and although their post Christmas form hasn’t quite matched the efforts of 2015 they still find themselves in 10th and subsequently the top half of the table.

Today could see the debuts for new signings Nordin Amrabat and Costel Pantilimon as Manager Quique Sanchez Florez will take the opportunity to make some changes to the starting lineup but with Forest on such a good run of form he can’t afford to make too many changes.

It would be difficult to bet against Forest at the moment as they are on such a good run but Watford will be an interesting test, I can see this one being a draw and them doing it all again at Vicarage Road.
