Norwich vs Newcastle – Match Preview

Another relegation 6 pointer this Afternoon as the battle to earn Premier League survival hots up. With Aston Villa all but down, we’re looking at two from three with two of those sides facing off against each other at Carrow Road.

In terms of the Tyne-Wear Derby before the International Break if you were to ask who the real winners were then you would probably say Norwich. Their win away at The Hawthorns coupled with a draw 24 hours later was probably the perfect combination of results for Alex Neil’s side

I felt that Norwich had a chance in that game against West Brom as Tony Pulis’ side have done enough to stay up and Norwich had to break their run without a win somewhere and The Hawthorns felt like as good a place as any.

It really wasn’t a classic game by all accounts with their only been 1 shot all target between the two sides all game and that was the shot which lead to the goal (which in itself was assisted by a complete air kick). A game to forget but certainly a result to remember for Norwich.

That win took them outside of the drop zone for at least 24 hours depending on the outcome of the Tyne-Wear Derby the next day. Newcastle will certainly feel like the gained a point after Alexsander Mitrovic’s late equaliser but that point still only sees them sit 19th in the table.

In the grand scheme of things the point didn’t really help Newcastle but at least it’s a platform for Rafa Benitez to build on. They have the first point, now they need the first win. Truth be told they are probably going to need 4 wins from their last 7 matches and that haul is going to need to start Today.

Norwich will aim not to lose this one whereas Newcastle have to win. Both defences have been very porous all season, so expect goals but then again I would also expect a nervy encounter. I think both sides will cancel each other out and it will end up a draw.
