Manchester City vs Swansea – Match Preview

Manchester City’s top scorer Sergio Aguero is still sidelined with a heel injury and captain Vincent Kompany also remains out with a calf problem.

But defender Martin Demichelis returns after a tendon injury.

Swansea’s caretaker manager Alan Curtis has few injury problems, with defender Franck Tabanou the only definite absentee with a thigh muscle injury.

But Curtis could make changes, with Federico Fernandez and Jonjo Shelvey among those pushing for a recall.

Editor’s Note: Manchester City were second best to everything last weekend against Stoke and now sit 3rd in the Premier League in what is already one of if not the most unpredictable season we’ve ever had. The last 7 days has seen the best and worst of City as after losing at Stoke they then managed to come from behind to beat Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League

Raheem Sterling came of age on Tuesday night as he bagged a second half brace against the German side and Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping there’s more of the same tomorrow afternoon. It will certainly be required what with Sergio Aguero missing out through injury again and this is a City side that looks less of a threatening proposition when Captain Vincent Kompany is out of action.

The most staggering stat is when Kompany plays in the league they have only conceded a solitary goal but when he doesn’t play they’ve conceded 15. There is certainly a soft underbelly waiting to be exposed but with manager less Swansea visiting tomorrow are they the right team to take advantage

The Swans find themselves without a man in charge after Chairman Huw Jenkins decided to wield the axe on Garry Monk on Wednesday. This was mainly due to the fact they have only won once in their last 11 games and with this being the time where chairmen get a bit get jittery with the worries of a relegation fight in the New Year it was felt that a change of direction was necessary for Swansea

Tomorrow should be a routine win for Manchester City as they look to take back their league top spot for at least 24 hours and Swansea will have to wait for that new Manager bounce in the following weeks but I don’t expect them to get a result tomorrow
