Both the sides playing this Afternoon suffered miserable defeats for different reasons in Midweek. Manchester City were bought down to Earth with a bump after their Capital One Cup glory while Aston Villa’s abject misery continues at the bottom of the table.
For all of City’s title aspirations a 3rd defeat in a row hasn’t made the job impossible but it’s certainly made the job harder. They need to be looking over their shoulders as a slip here could mean they find themselves outside of the Top 4. Is the arrival of Pep Guardiola finally having a negative effect.
How Villa would love to have someone like Pep Guardiola at the helm. Another miserable night at Villa Park on Tuesday as they lost 3-1 to Everton. Another mass walkout by the fans and you just wonder when this is all going to end. Frankly it’s almost over only Mathematics is keeping them alive
They’ll be no respite this Afternoon as City will be playing in a game they really can’t afford to lose. I doubt Pep Guardiola will be too pleased at the thought of taking over a club in the Europa League next season. Home win for me.
