Liverpool wishing on a Red Star

Liverpool have had a £5.14m bid accepted for Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic, according to the Serbian club.

Grujic, 19, will stay at the Serbia club on loan before joining the Premier League side on 1 July 2016.

Liverpool beat bids from Anderlecht (£1.47m) and Stuttgart (£3.67m).

“The club’s board considered the offers and unanimously accepted Liverpool’s offer to pay the money immediately,” said Red Star in a statement.

It continued: “Red Star sincerely want Marko Grujic to carry on playing in the club’s kit for the next 10 years but the financial situation of our club dictates the adoption of a different decision.”

He has played 22 times for the Serbian league leaders this season, scoring five goals.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently ninth in the Premier League and are winless in their last three games.

Editor’s Note: Three things here

a) What a weird amount to bid, I expect that is actually a bid of 7 million Euro

b) I’ve never heard of him

c) Surely they need to focus on getting a Goalkeeper after Sunday’s performance by Adam Bogdan
