Atletico Madrid bow out of the La Liga title race after a Champions League hangover has seen them slip to defeat to lowly Levante. Diego Simeone’s side have now slipped to 3rd place in the title and due to a lesser head to head record against Barcelona they are now unable to secure a 2nd La Liga crown in 3 seasons.
Disappointment for Atletico but they will now have to soften the blow by exacting revenge over Real Madrid for their 2014 final defeat and win the Champions League at the end of the month.
