Leicester’s global stature set to increase after invitation to International Champions Cup

Premier League leaders Leicester are certainly going places and those places will now include Glasgow, Stockholm and Los Angeles as they have been announced as one of the sides taking part in this Summer’s International Champions Cup.

The psuedo competition is a circuit of Pre-Season friendlies played around the globe between Europe’s biggest clubs. Thanks to Leicester’s performances this season and near Premier League success they have now been invited to join the ranks of teams such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid

Claudio Ranieri’s side will play Celtic in Glasgow on 23 July, PSG in Los Angeles on 30 July and Barcelona in Stockholm on 3 August. When you compare that to their pre season campaign last Summer of Lincoln, Mansfield and Burton Albion then it just goes to show how far they have come in less than 12 months.

There are 5 Premier League teams taking part in the competition itself they are Leicester, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United. While Manchester City and Tottenham will play their own affiliated friendlies in China and Australia respectively

24 July – Inter v PSG, Eugene

27 July – Real Madrid v PSG, Columbus

27 July – Bayern Munich v AC Milan, Chicago

27 July – Chelsea v Liverpool, Pasadena

30 July – Celtic v Barcelona, Dublin

30 July – Inter v Bayern Munich, Charlotte

30 July – AC Milan v Liverpool, Santa Clara

30 July – PSG v Leicester, LA

3 August – Barcelona v Leicester, Stockholm

3 August – Bayern Munich v Real Madrid, East Rutherford

3 August – AC Milan v Chelsea, Minnapolis
