King Adebayor gets a new Palace

Crystal Palace have ended their search for a Striker by signing Togo International and Football Mercenary Emmanuel Adebayor until the end of the season. The 31 year old was last registered at Tottenham but his contract was cancelled by the club back in August.

Adebayor will be charged of getting the one thing that Palace desperately need at the moment and that is Goals. Their 8 hour goal drought was only ended on Saturday thanks to a Jan Vertonghen Own Goal and they haven’t won a League game since December 19th as the South London side slide down the Premier League table.

Alan Pardew’s side have had a big problem finding the net this season with only 24 goals in 23 matches, so just over 1 goal a game and his current batch of Strikers have been misfiring with only 1 goal between Fraizer Campbell, Dwight Gayle, Connor Wickham and Marouane Chamakh. They’ve been a different side since injury to top scorer Yannick Bolasie

As for Adebayor will signing him is always a risk due to his questionable commitment to a club, but one thing you can guarantee is that he always starts off any time at a club well so even if Palace can get a good 4 months out of him to make sure they aren’t dragged further down the table then at least the investment will show some worth at the end of the season.

A short term deal will probably beneficial to all parties as it’s when Adebayor gets a long term deal and his feet under the table that the baggage that he caries with him starts to surface, I don’t think many Tottenham fans cried any tears when he left the club last Summer even if it did leave them very short in the Strikers department. Will it be a good move for Palace, the simple answer to that is if he starts scoring goals then yes it will be.
