Jonjo set to Shelve time at Swansea

Newcastle United have agreed a £12m fee with Swansea City to sign midfielder Jonjo Shelvey,  Shelvey is scheduled to have a medical at St James’ Park before a deal can be finalised with the Premier League club.

With Newcastle 18th in the Premier League and Swansea 17th you have to question the wisdom of a move like this but after Shelvey was arguing with Swansea fans on Sunday during their F.A. Cup defeat to Oxford it seems as if any exit will do for the England International.

This will be the first player exit since Alan Curtis was given the role of interim manager last week will this be the start of a mass exodus or is it a case of Swansea having to sell before they can buy. Will Curtis even be trusted with funds considering he is only in charge until the end of the season.

It will mark good business for Swansea considering they only bought him for £5m from Liverpool but you do have to question the wisdom of selling one of your best players to what is now a relegation rival. As for Newcastle will the signings of Saviet and Shelvey be enough to keep them up, possibly but someone needs to find the net with more regularity if they are to have any chance of beating the drop.
