Barcelona managed to keep the pressure on La Liga leaders Real Madrid last night with a comprehensive away win at Granada. After Los Blancos win earlier in the day the gap at the top did stand at 5 points before the game kicked off but thanks to a 4 goal haul Luis Enrique’s men have managed to cut that back down to two although Zinedine Zidane’s men do still have that additional game in hand.
The first half looked like it was going to end without a goal but just a minute before the break Luis Suarez broke the deadlock and made sure that the away side would go into the interval with their noses ahead. At that point would have thought it was plain sailing but Granada had other ideas when on-loan Chelsea midfielder Jeremie Boga equalised with a composed finish to restore parity.
With Lionel Messi absent it was left for Paco Alcacer to fill the Argentine’s shoes and he did exactly that on 64 minutes. The former Valencia forward has put the Catalan giants ahead for the second time in the game. Any faint hopes that Granada may have had of getting back into the game for a second time were dashed when Henry Agbo was sent off 8 minutes from time after two bookable offences.
It was at that point that Barcelona turned the screw as they went up through the gears. Firstly just a minute later Ivan Rakitic all but secured the points to make it 3-1 and Neymar made absoutely sure of the result in injury time as he made it 4-1 to Barcelona. The title race is still very much alive but you do get the feeling that Luis Enrique is going to have to go to The Bernabeu and mastermind an El Clasico win to have any real change of bowing out with a La Liga title.
Here is all you need to know from last night
