Garcia gets Rudi awakening as Roma look for new Manager

Roma have sacked manager Rudi Garcia after a poor run of results in Serie A.

Former Lille manager Garcia had seen his side win just once since the beginning of November, a 2-0 home victory against struggling Genoa. At the time of his sacking Roma found themselves 5th in Serie A and 7 points off of league leaders Napoli.

It was felt that their title challenge has all but slipped away and that a change of coach was needed to salvage the season and still be able to qualify for next season’s Champions League

The Italians have been drawn against Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League having qualified with the lowest number of points.

The favourite to take over is Jorge Sampaoil who is currently Manager of last Summer’s Copa America Winners Chile. This would be a potential blow to Chelsea fans as he was earmarked as a potential candidate to take over at Stamford Bridge in the Summer.
