Fazio heads back to Sevilla on Loan – No one sheds a tear in all honesty

Tottenham have announced this Afternoon that Argentine Defender Fazio has moved back to Sevilla on Loan until the end of the season.

The 27 year old has struggled to get game time this season due to the excellent partnership of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld at the heart of Tottenham’s Defence. His lack of game time has been further compounded due to Kevin Wimmer moving up the pecking order and replacing Vertonghen at the Weekend for their win over Colchester.

Fazio hasn’t been in favour under Maurcio Pochettino and was set to move to West Brom on the last day of the Summer Transfer Window only for the move to collapse at the last stage. Due to Fazio’s inactivity at White Hart Lane he has seemingly jumped at the chance to return to Sevilla and frankly who can blame him. That said I don’t think many Spurs fans will be all that unhappy.

The only concern that Spurs fans may have is that they are leaving themselves a bit light at the back. Kevin Wimmer takes the Left Sided Centre Back slot while it looks like Eric Dier will slot in for Toby Alderweireld if and when the Belgian needs to be rested.

Another option is Cameron Carter-Vickers, the U.S. Youth International is highly rated at White Hart Lane but this season may be too soon for him to make a first team appearance. But I would expect him to be a lot closer to that during the 2016/17 season.

There is one permanent departure from White Hart Lane Today in the way of Miloš Veljković, who has moved to Werder Bremen. The player was seemingly frozen out by the club after refusing a new contract and will now look to progress his career in The Bundesliga.
