- As I now don’t live too far away from Dagenham but lived in Brighton (where Whitehawk are based) this game was of interest to me, so I thought I would go along and lend my support to The Hawks this afternoon
- And wow, what a support it was. Over 500 fans made the journey from the South Coast and they did not stop singing all game
- The same couldn’t be said for the Dagenham fans, I’m not lying when I say they didn’t sing one song all game
- It was an auspicious start for Whitehawk as the evergreen Jamie Cureton put Dagenham in front after only 4 minutes
- Dagenham managed to contain Whitehawk to pot shots throughout the first half but their was a glimmer of hope for the Sussex side when they thought parity was restored only for their effort to be disallowed for an earlier foul
- At half time and only 1-0 down the tie was certainly still alive for The Hawks
- The Second half saw more urgency from Whitehawk and they created the more of the chances and effort from Mendy Arnaud was volleyed wide and then Danny Mills contrived to miss a header which seemed harder to miss than score.
- You then felt that unfortunately it wasn’t going to be Whitehawk’s day
- But then like any great F.A. cup script the unthinkable happened
- Wave after wave of Whitehawk pressure was finally rewarded with Jordan Rose’s 94 minute equalizer to send the travelling Hawks fans into a state of delirium
- It was nothing more than they deserved especially as they sung their hearts out from minute 1 to 90 and beyond
- That draw puts them in the hat for tomorrow’s 3rd Round Draw but first they must make sure they complete the job in the replay
- The Whitehawk Ultras made it a party atmosphere and it was a party that exceeded all expectations, a big shout to them for making me welcome and best of luck in the replay
- A fantastic afternoon and it summed up perfectly what the F.A. Cup is all about
