Crystal Palace will again be without striker Dwight Gayle, who missed the win at Liverpool with a hamstring problem.
Marouane Chamakh is back after a similar injury, but Bakary Sako is a doubt and Kwesi Appiah is ruled out.
Sunderland expect to welcome back Lee Cattermole, who sat out the defeat by Southampton with a groin problem.
Manager Sam Allardyce reported no other fresh injury concerns ahead of the trip to Selhurst Park.
John O’Shea could return after missing the Black Cats’ last two games with a hamstring injury.
The defender was fit enough to make a brief substitute appearance for the Republic of Ireland on Monday.
Editor’s Note: It seems as if Crystal Palace are better on the road then they are at home this season but they have chance to rectify that with the visit of Sunderland Tonight where a win would see them go 6th in the table.
Proof that they travel better was apparent in their last game before the break when they went to Anfield and won 2-1, that was their first win in 4 games and Crystal Palace will be hoping the fact that they haven’t played in a fortnight doesn’t halt that momentum.
Sunderland are have only won once all season and have lost their two matches shipping 7 goals in the process, 6 of them coming away at Everton. They looked slightly better in their defeat to Southampton in their last game but were still masters of their own downfall that afternoon. Big Sam has certainly got his work cut out if he wants to keep Sunderland up this season. I think that work will get even harder after tonight as I expect Palace to get all 3 points.
