The Champions League Quarter Final has been made and it’s not particularly great news for Leicester fans. Firstly they have not landed the plum tie they had hoped for and secondly they have arguably been handed one of the toughest pairings. That’s because the defending Premier League champions have been paired with Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.
We all know how much Leicester like to play on the counter attack but this probably the one side that will not play into Leicester’s hands over the course of the two quarter final matches. Disappointment for Leicester, although it still guarantees another trip to Madrid but not just facing the opposition they had in mind.
Talking of Madrid the tie of the round is obviously the holders being pitted against Bayern Munich, this is going to be a mouth watering tie not just because of the stature of the two sides but also because of the fact that Carlo Ancelotti faces off against the club he led to 2014 Champions League success.
We’ll also see a repeat of the 2015 final as Juventus have been paired with Barcelona, could Luis Enrique’s hope of bowing out at the very top in June be hampered by a Juventus side looking to exact revenge for their final defeat 2 years ago. While completing the list is Borussia Dortmund vs Monaco, two matches which are almost guaranteed goals.

That may cover Europe’s top club competition but what about its younger brother the Europa League. Favourites Manchester United have been pitted against Begian side Anderlecht, while the other Belgian side left in the competition Genk have been paired against Celta Vigo.
Ajax and Schalke going head to head is arguably the tie of the round, while Lyon’s reward for knocking out Roma is a Quarter Final pairing with Besiktas
