Benik Afobe looks set to lose Bournemouth Cherry

Bournemouth have announced the signature of Wolves Striker Benik Afobe thought to be of a club record £10m. The 22 year old joins after spending a year at Molineux in which he scored 23 Goals in 48 Appearances.

The signing of Afobe is Bournemouth’s second of the January Transfer Window and the addition of the ex Arsenal Man along with the loan signing of Roma’a Juan Iturbe will no doubt bolster Bournemouth’s attacking options especially as they currently have Callum Wilson and Max Gradel out long term injured

The £10m fee surpasses the £8m paid to Ipswich for Tyrone Mings last Summer, he himself another long term injury victim. The concern maybe that Bournemouth are going for broke and spending large sums of money but you would argue that in this day and age £10m is a small drop in the ocean even for a club of Bournemouth’s size and if Afobe can hit the ground running and deliver goals then his signature will be priceless.

  1. Charlie Austin aside, Afobe’s probably the best Championship striker Eddie Howe could go for.
