Australia Announce World Cup Squad
In their 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup, Australia has chosen teenage attacker Garang Kuol, who will join Newcastle United in January.
In September, an agreement was reached for the Premier League team to acquire the 18-year-old from Central Coast Mariners.
Kuol has only had one cap for Australia, which came against New Zealand in September, and is yet to make a start for Central Coast Mariners in the A-League.
Graham Arnold, the coach for Australia, stated that the youngster simply needed to be himself.
“Garang has demonstrated his ability to alter a game. He likes to entrtain and has no fear.”
The ex-Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic of West Bromwich Albion, the Qatari club Al-Trent Wakrah’s Sainsbury, and the goalkeeper Mitch Langerak of Nagoya Grampus are notable exclusions.
