It’s almost difficult to cram all the goals into just a three minute highlight package as Atletico Madrid scored 7 (seven) against Granada yesterday as they held on to top spot of La Liga. In terms of preparations for the Champions League in Midweek then Diego Simeone couldn’t have asked for anything more as his side romped to victory.
For Granada, trips to Madrid don’t seem to be all that positive as they would have only got the 9-1 thrashing to Real Madrid last year out of their memories and they have to once again come away from the Spanish capital with their tail between their legs
But let’s not forget it all started so well for Granada as they took the lead on 18 minutes through Issac Cuenca but if anything all that did was awaken the beast of Atletico. By half time they were already back in front thanks to a Yannick Carrasco brace and he would complete his hattrick shortly after the break
Nicolas Gaitan then got a brace of his own to make it 5-1 and Atletico didn’t have mercy on Granada as Angel Correa and Tiago rounded out the scoring with two late goals to make it an almost perfect seven as they stay clear of their cross city rivals Real on goal difference.
Here is all you need to know from yesterday
