The hunt for the next Chelsea Manager may be coming to a close with reports that current Italy boss Antonio Conte could be the man to fill the Stamford Bridge hotseat once Guus Hiddink ends his second interim spell in charge of the club.
The former Juventus Manager could be appointed as early as next month with him taking charge of the club once this Summer’s EURO 2016 tournament has come to a close. The 46 year old would be an easier capture than say Juventus Manger Massimo Allegri due to the fact that he is out of contract once Italy’s participation of the tournament ends.
Conte has been supposedly taking English lessons to get him ready for life in the Premier League this season and a move to London now seems on the cards
He’s also seemingly ahead of the Diego Simeone in the queue with the Chelsea higher ups having concerns of his managerial style and also the fact that they would have to pay a sizeable fee believed to be around £10m to free the Argentinian from his contract.
Another slightly left field suggestion could be Manuel Pellegrini, with him already announcing his departure from Manchester City due to Pep Guardiola’s arrival he will be a free agent in the Summer.
His Premier League experience would no doubt make him an attractive proposition but would the Chilean want to work under Roman Abramovich. For the right price, I’m sure he might
Jorge Sampaoli the current Chile Manager who was overlooked for the Roma job last Month is an outside candidate but I think this is just Chelsea covering all eventualities, I’d probably make him currently in last place in the Chelsea Manager race.
So it seems like Chelsea could have a first Italian Manager since 2012 when Roberto Di Matteo was in charge and we all know what he won when in charge of The Blues (Spurs fans have probably wiped this from memory mind you)
