Emmanuel Adebayor has rubbished any claims that he is set to move to Turkey in the Summer and also hit out at claims that he has a new agent. The Togolese international stated on Twitter that
“For the record I have seen some articles regarding a transfer to teams in Turkey. I can confirm I have never heard of Mehdi Isik who has”
So Adebayor is playing down any chances of a move which in my opinion tells me he’s more than happy just warming up our bench or rotting in the reserves, we certainly need to freshen up our attack line as Harry Kane’s goals pretty much dragged us to 5th place last season. A mixture of Adebayor’s wages and his seemingly unwilling to move will be the main stumbling block but if any club is stupid/crazy/brave enough to take him off our hands then I certainly don’t think we should stand in his way.
Spurs have been linked with Danny Ings and Charlie Austin already so this would imply that there will hopefully be some movement in the strikers department, ideally i’d like to see Soldado and Adebayor go and be replaced with two fresh faces. Soldado is a busted flush and Adebayor has peaked as far as I’m concerned. Let’s just hope this Summer’s transfer window is a more productive one than last season.
The only issue Spurs might have is that Harry Kane is now the undisputed Number 1 forward at the club so if you are going to buy new strikers they must know that they are coming in to play a bit part role (well at least start with) and won’t be in the side straight away. Ultimately we have to be careful not to flog Harry Kane to death next season, especially with him playing the Euro U-21’s. Therefore there will be a whole heap of game time available in the secondary competitions such as the League Cup and the Europa League to any new strikers, it’s just up to them to make the best of their opportunities
