Manchester United will be without striker Wayne Rooney and midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin for their crucial Champions League game at Wolfsburg.
Rooney, 30, remains out with the ankle injury that forced him to miss Saturday’s 0-0 draw with West Ham.
Van Gaal will also be without injured defenders Phil Jones (ankle) and Marcos Rojo (shoulder), and midfielder Ander Herrera (hamstring).
Editor’s Note: Manchester United must win to be sure of advancing to the last 16 which shouldn’t be too much of a task tonight but as of late goals have certainly been hard to come by with them registering four 0-0’s in the Premier League so far this season
Louis van Gaal’s team are second in Group B, one point ahead of Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, who have a superior head-to-head record having beaten United in the Netherlands and drawn 0-0 at Old Trafford.
They won’t be helped by the fact that Wayne Rooney is out injured so it means that Anthony Martial is going to have to lead the line on his own tonight with a support coming most likely from Juan Mata and Memphis Depay
Their opponents tonight Wolfsburg aren’t quite the side that gave Bayern Munich the biggest test in the Bundesliga last season although that said they do currently top a very tight group in which defeat could see them demoted to the Europa League position if results go against them
I think Manchester United will have to go for it tonight and will probably be suited better to playing away from home, I’m not quite sure where the goals will come from but I do think they will have more quality overall to get the win needed tonight to progress to the last 16.
