Will Savey Davey Wave Goodbye To Manchester United?

If it wasn’t for that pesky fax machine then this is a move that could have been completed back in 2015. Real Madrid had already agreed a transfer deadline day deal with Manchester United to sign the highly rated David De Gea but as we all know by now the Spanish giants did not submit their paperwork in time.

In fairness to De Gea he never created a fuss after the move collapsed and got back to focusing on winning back the Goalkeepers jersey from Sergio Romero, that was battle that was won quite quickly under previous manager Louis Van Gaal.

But with De Gea not featuring towards the end of the league campaign or United’s Europa League Final success against Ajax last weekend does that perhaps point to the fact that Real Madrid are once again ready to bring the former Atletico shotstopper back to the Spanish capital.

Two years ago Los Blancos bid £29m for the then 24 year old in what was a protracted transfer saga over the course of the Summer, there was a lot of back and forth between the two European giants but ultimately United decided not to stand in the players way in regards to letting him return back to Spain.

You do get the feeling though that if Real are to come back in with another bid then with the market as it is they are going to start with a bid nearer £40m to prize De Gea away from Old Trafford. If he is to leave the club this Summer then I would imagine it is going to require a world record bid for a goalkeeper.

As we all know when Real Madrid come calling it is very hard to say no, United obviously do not have to sell but should Zinedine Zidane’s men win a second consecutive Champions League title then the clamour of the Bernabeu might just be too much to turn down for Savey Davey. I think we may have another transfer saga in our midst.
