Will Mohamed Salah Walk Like An Egyptian?

Liverpool may have qualified for the Champions League by virtue of their 4th place finish last season but they cannot afford to rest on their laurels as now the difficult task begins. That of course being building a squad which is worthy of challenging with Europe’s elite.

One player that they are targeting to enhance their chances of European success is that of Roma’s Mohamed Salah. Salah recently helped Roma to a runners-up finish in Serie A but is now being courted by Jurgen Klopp in a bid to bring him back to England.

The Egyptian international’s previous Premier League stint was with Chelsea when he joined the club from Swiss side FC Basel back in January 2014. Unfortunately for him he had to make do with somewhat of a role on the periphery of the squad and just 12 months letter he was shipped out to Fiorentina.

A loan spell with the Viola was then followed with a loan spell with current club Roma for the 2015-16 campaign and it was his return of 14 goals in 34 Serie A appearances which was enough to earn him a permanent move to the Stadio Olimpico.

His return has been no less impressive this time around with the soon to be 25 year old scoring 15 times in 31 matches for the team that was recently coached by Luciano Spalletti, although that is no longer the case after his departure earlier in the week.

Liverpool have already tested the waters with a bid of £28m but that was deemed not to have met the valuation set by the Roma hierarchy, they feel that should the Anfield outfit return with a bid of between £35m to £40m then it would be enough to acquire the services of Salah.

Salah will feel he has unfinished business in English football after a somewhat forgettable stint at Chelsea and with Jurgen Klopp looking to freshen up his attack line during this transfer window, they could well be a perfect fit for each other. Now as always it will come down to money and whether or not Liverpool are prepared to increase their offer.
