Unofficial Football World Championship – Chile vs Colombia Preview

The Unofficial Football World Championship returns tonight with Holders Chile taking on Challengers Colombia.

Chile are in their 4th title defence tonight after winning the Copa America and the UFWC title against Argentina in the Copa America Final.

In their last defence they just bested a 7 goal thriller against Peru to keep hold of the crown.

Following convincing victories over Brazil and Chile in October’s last round of qualifiers, Chile joins Uruguay and Ecuador as South America’s only undefeated squads thanks to Alexis Sanchez’s three goals.

However, the 26-year-old Arsenal attacking midfielder and his international coach Jorge Sampaoli dealt with questions and criticism over his fitness and responsibilities to both club and country. Sampaoli played Sanchez a full 90 minutes in both of the Copa America champions’ wins, despite a nagging groin injury that could’ve limited his effectiveness for the Gunners.

Can Colombia win the UFWC Title back after also winning it during the Copa America but they lost it in their first defence against Argentina. Remember a draw will be enough for Chile to stay Champions but Colombia do have a fit again James Rodriguez in their ranks.  Rodriguez returned to action as a substitute in Madrid’s 3-2 loss to Sevilla on Sunday, netting his fifth goal of the year in the process.

So it’s Sanchez vs Rodriguez, who will come out on top? we’ll find out in the early hours of Friday Morning (UK Time)
