Tottenham vs West Brom a few quick thoughts

  • Well that’s that then. Ok Leicester haven’t quite won the league but they surely can’t throw it away from here
  • Obviously Mauricio Pochettino is trying to put a positive spin on things this Morning but even he deep down must feel that the chance has now gone with only a draw last night
  • The gap now stands at 7 points and Leicester could win this Weekend and make Tottenham’s trip to Chelsea irrelevant
  • I guess it was just one of those nights at White Hart Lane yesterday. It would be unfair to say a bottle job but it’s definitely two points dropped
  • They failed to replicate the performances that bought wins over both Manchester United and Stoke over the past few weeks
  • To hit the woodwork three times kind of suggests that it’s not going to be your night and ultimately the title is not going to be won by Tottenham
  • It looked like the hunt was still on when Craig Dawson put through his own net before the break, it was nothing more than Spurs deserved but even then you felt it was quite a nervy evening
  • If Harry Kane had put his chance away early in the game then it would have settled the nerves of players and fans alike but at half time you just felt that 1-0 wasn’t going to be enough
  • The criticism before the game was that Tony Pulis’s side had nothing to play but again a Pulis side has managed to put a huge spanner in the works of a team chasing the title
  • Two years ago it was Liverpool and now it’s Tottenham
  • Craig Dawson atoning for his earlier mistake as he then headed home at the right end
  • Hugo Lloris came for the ball but ending up given Eric Dier an uppercut instead and Dawson headed into the net much to the despair of Spurs
  • A soft goal to concede for a side chasing the title
  • Eric Dier could play no further part as Spurs looked for a winner to keep their slim hopes alive
  • Only it didn’t come as West Brom squeezed the life out of the game and in all fairness looked the side more likely to nick a winner
  • It seems as if Tottenham got stage fright last night bar Mousa Dembele who had an excellent game in Midfield
  • Dele Alli receives a blot on his copy book as he could now be potentially suspended for the rest of the season following a potential violent conduct charge for punching Claudio Yacob in the first half
  • For all his talent, these little acts of petulance could be the undoing for him If he’s not careful
  • Tottenham stay 5 points clear of Manchester City and Arsenal and with those two sides playing each other, another win will secure 2nd place for Mauricio Pochettino’s side
  • They will have to pick themselves up after last night’s disappointment and look to seal that 2nd place next Monday at Stamford Bridge
  • Although it’s not mathematically impossible, there is certainly an air of resignation this morning if not from the players then certainly the fans
  • We’ll know by Sunday if the race has finally been run
