Tottenham vs MLS All Stars – a few quick thoughts

spurs

If like me you actually stayed up to watch this game this morning then well done I suppose, it was a bit of tough watch at times but I’m glad I didn’t have to go to work today, so that’s some blessing I guess. Anyway here are a few of my thoughts after watching the game. (Some not necessarily game related)

  • David Villa could definitely do a job in the Premier League (whether he could do it on a cold wet Tuesday night at The Britannia is a different story)
  • We look incredibly light upfront and worry that too much is going to be asked of Harry Kane this season, two things to consider here. Firstly we don’t have suitable back up and no-one else has considered the worst case scenarios of long term injury and “second season syndrome”
  • It wasn’t a particularly thrilling game and we still don’t look particularly exciting under Poch
  • It if weren’t for Harry Kane’s goal I think we could have gone all game without scoring
  • Bit weird how this was our first pre-season game with the season starting in 9 days
  • Even weirder how we have the Audi Cup next Tuesday and Wednesday
  • Kieran Trippier had a good game and I think he will be a great addition to our back line
  • Dele Alli also looked comfortable while coming on, it will be interesting to see how much he features in his first season at White Hart Lane
  • If Adebayor is departing for Aston Villa in the very near future then surely we must have an immediate replaced lined up and ready to go?…haven’t we
  • Linked with Rickie Lambert today, wouldn’t mind that signing to be perfectly honest
  • Ashley Young looks set to sign a new contract for Manchester United so that link from yesterday’s Gossip Column is already dead

I think that’s all things Spurs for today, oh well the season edges ever closer just hope now we can get at least 1 more new face in before Saturday. Come On You Spurs!
