Tottenham vs Leicester – Match Preview

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino will rotate his squad, so Nacer Chadli, Danny Rose, Nabil Bentaleb and Son Heung-Min could earn starts.

Mousa Dembele, Alex Pritchard and Clinton Njie remain sidelined.

Leicester’s Jamie Vardy is out after groin surgery but new signing Demarai Gray could make his debut on the wing.

Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri will also make changes, with Gokhan Inler, Shinji Okazaki and Ritchie De Laet amongst the players hoping for recalls.

Jeff Schlupp and Matt James continue their recovery from injuries and are unavailable.

Editor’s Note: These two sides do battle in the first tie of a Cup and League Double Header over the next few days with Spurs looking to get revenge on getting knocked out of the cup by the same side last season where as Leicester will be hoping to repeat last year’s feat.

With both teams also in The Champions League spots at the moment I would imagine both Managers will use this game to slightly rotate their lineups but still wanting to be strong enough to not crash out of the competition at the first hurdle.

Much will be asked if Harry Kane starts or whether he will be rested for the League encounter on Wednesday, it will come down as to what is viewed as the bigger priority at the moment and Spurs not having the luxury of a large squad so do not be too surprised if Kane only features on the bench.

Leicester will be without their talisman Jamie Vardy for this and the clash in Midweek so Shinji Okazaki. The absence of Vardy will be a big blow for Claudio Ranieri considering his side have failed to find the net in the last 3 league matches.

If Leicester are making the League their priority I’m not sure they have enough of a squad to make wholesale changes and still be at their best. Maybe Claudio Ranieri already knows this and is going to put all his eggs in the League basket.

I think the worst result for both sides would be a draw tomorrow and that would mean another fixture in such a short space of time. I think Tottenham will just edge this but a lot depends on the line ups.
