Alan Curtis has no reported new injury problems in what is expected to be his last game as Swansea’s caretaker boss.
Jonjo Shelvey could play after a calf injury but striker Eder and defender Franck Tabanou remain absent with ankle and thigh injuries respectively.
West Ham striker Andy Carroll is doubtful with a groin problem.
Manuel Lanzini remains out with a thigh injury that has sidelined him since the end of November, but the midfielder should be fit for the Boxing Day game.
Editor’s Note: Thanks to yesterday’s results Swansea now find themselves in the bottom 3 so today’s fixtures takes on some extra importance as Alan Curtis looks to sign off as Caretaker Manager with a win
Swansea have been on a retched run as of late with their only win coming away at Basement side Aston Villa back in October but the Swans did show some glimmer of hope last week at Manchester City where they were cruelly beaten by a deflected last minute winner.
Today they play host to a West Ham side who haven’t won in their last 6 matches and haven’t registered a win since their talisman Dimitri Payet was injured against Everton.
It’s not unfair to say West Ham have been a different side since the ankle injury to the ex Marseille midfielder and today Slaven Bilic will look to arrest the slide against a Swansea not high on momentum themsevles
After West Ham’s fantastic start to the season it is in danger of petering out but to their credit they still find themselves 7th in the table but that’s probably more due to the scalps at the beginning of the season rather than the form they are in now
The good news for Swansea is that Bafetimbi Gomis got back on the scoresheet last Sunday so will be pushing for inclusion from the start as the Swansea look to haul themselves out of the bottom 3 before a new incumbent takes the reigns.
Unfortunately for Swansea I don’t think it’s going to be the case today and they will be spending Xmas in the drop zone. My money is on a share of the points this afternoon.
