Swansea vs Liverpool – Match Preview

Saturday’s Premier League action begins in Swansea this lunchtime as an under pressure Francesco Guidolin gets his side ready for the visit of in form Liverpool. The South Wales side are sitting precariously above the relegation zone in 17th and Guidolin needs to deliver a first win since the opening day of the season away at Burnley.

The Italian has been rumoured to be unfortunate man who will win the Premier League sack race if results don’t improve with Ryan Giggs and Chris Coleman being linked with filling the Swansea hotseat should the vacancy come around in the near future.

The fixture computer certainly hasn’t been kind to Swansea as of late, last week it was Manchester City at home a game in which they lost 3-1 and this week they prepare for a Liverpool side who have been rampant in front of goal as of late.

Swansea are having problems in front of goal but at least Fernando Llorente is finally off the mark after opening his account last Saturday in that home defeat to City. The Spanish World Cup winner will now look to add to that tally against Liverpool this lunchtime.

Liverpool are having no such problems in front of goal as of late. They turned in a 5 star performance against Hull last Saturday and have scored 11 league goals in their last three outings. What will be even more pleasing for manager Jurgen Klopp is the fact that those goals are being scored all throughout the team.

Some will questions Liverpool consistency and the fact they haven’t kept a league clean sheet yet as reasons why they can’t win the title this season but on the evidence that they have shown from their first half dozen matches then they must be serious contenders for the Top 4 come May.

They sit 5th going into this game but if results go their way they could be sitting 2nd by the end of the weekend and could very well be the team that will provide the biggest challenge to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. A win today would certainly see them leapfrog their Merseyside rivals Everton due to them only being able to draw at home to Crystal Palace last night.

Liverpool will go into this game as heavy favourites and rightly so and you would be hard pressed to argue otherwise, September was a very successful month for Jurgen Klopp’s men with 3 wins out of 3 and they will look to carry that form into October.

I think the Reds will march on to another victory and make the picture for Francesco Guidolin even more gloomy, if results go against them they could be in the bottom three come the end of the day and then the knives will become even sharper. I can’t see anything else than an away win Today.
