I’ve done a not so scientific poll on Twitter and the results have come back as follows
Spurs fans do you want Saido Berahino in January?#COYS

It’s not a landslide but it would seem of the 130+ votes that have come in it would seem a slight majority are not excited by the prospect of Saido Berahino moving to White Hart Lane this month. It would seem the drawn out transfer saga of the Summer has had a detrimental affect on Berahino’s time at West Brom where it’s now to the point in Tony Pulis’ words that “He is lucky to make the bench”
I suppose you could look at this two ways, he really doesn’t want to be at the club anymore and it seems as if Pulis is no longer a fan of his therefore the motivation to do well for West Brom has all but evaporated the problem this creates is that it hardly puts you in the shop window for a prospective transfer. So if you were a club like Tottenham for example maybe you have to ignore all the external factors and look at the talent that Berahino has shown before.
A positive slant would be his experience of the Premier League already therefore there would be no bedding in time needed so he can hit the ground running if and when he would be called into action. Buying another striker is almost proving to the impossible task, I appreciate it’s only January 4th at time of writing but with the F.A. Cup and the return of the Europa League now on the horizon the games are going to come thick and fast and Harry Kane is going to be rested at some point.
Nacer Chadli has been mooted as a capable backup but I think that might be a case of trying to fit a square peg in a round hole and if we’re left with that as our only other striking option come February 1st then something would have gone very much awry, it’s certainly not panic just yet at White Hart Lane but maybe fan conjecture might actually be wrong on this occasion and Berahino may just well be the ideal addition we need this month. We’ll have to watch this space. COYS!
