Southampton vs Stoke – Match Preview

Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk is expected to face Stoke despite suffering a knee injury on international duty.

Jay Rodriguez’s foot injury could need surgery but fellow forward Shane Long came through his midweek international outing unscathed following an ankle problem.

Stoke defender Marc Muniesa is still sidelined by a hamstring problem.

Keeper Shay Given also remains out as he recovers from recent knee surgery.

Editor’s Note: After a slow start to the season, Southampton are now picking up momentum as their rise up the table continues. The South Coast side haven’t lost in 6 matches and find themselves in the same 7th place in which they finished last season.

Tomorrow they entertain a Stoke side who are fresh off of beating Chelsea before the International break and also have Irish hero Jonathan Walters in their ranks. After also having a slow start Stoke are starting to find their feet and have only lost 1 out of their last 7 games.

I don’t think there will be many goals in this one, it may even be last on Match Of The Day (sorry Stoke fans) but I think Ronald Koeman’s Saints will go marching onto 3 more points and could go 5th for at least 24 hours.
