Real Madrid Do Not See The Hazard Signs

Sunday saw the announcement that Eden Hazard had picked up an injury while on international duty for Belgium, an innocuous looking  stumble to the ground had resulted in the Chelsea star picking up a broken ankle with question marks then surrounding just how long he would be ruled out for.

A broken ankle takes a minimum of 6 weeks to heal so the best case scenario would be that Hazard would be back in early pre-season training for Chelsea in mid July, only it is worse news than that for Antonio Conte with the 26 year old set to be ruled out for the next three months.

It may be bad news in the immediate for Chelsea but in this case their cloud could very well have a silver lining. That is because with Hazard out injured until after the transfer window closes it means he becomes a less attractive proposition to any prospective suitors.

It is well known that Real Madrid are looking to add another Galactico to their ranks this summer and it is believed that Hazard was topping the list of potential new signings. But now with this injury news their plans would have been thrown into disarray.

Bad news for fans of Los Blancos but fantastic news for fans of the Blues. Obviously they do not want to see any of their star players miss any game time but if it was to mean that Hazard was staying at Stamford Bridge for another season then ultimately its all for the greater good.

That said it would not necessarily stop Zinedine Zidane from making a bid for the former Lille player but their is always a gamble on buying a player with an existing injury and with the amount of money set to be involved you would imagine that the Champions League winners would err on the side of caution.

Chelsea can probably breathe a sigh of relief that the diminutive Belgian is staying put for at least another 12 months (I would be very surprised if he was to move in January) well Real will have to think again as to who their top transfer target is.

Does the focus now shift to French wonderkid Kylian Mbappe, if that is to be the case then it looks like it is going to require a world record transfer fee to prize him away from Monte Carlo, that though should not be an issue for the La Liga champions it now just boils down to whether or not the Monaco hierarchy want to cash in on their prized asset.
