Real Football Man All of the Football, All of the time
It has admittedly been a bit quiet on the Real Football Data front over the past few weeks, truth be told there has not been a great deal of football has there and as a consequence there has not been too much data to collate but with the season as good started that will soon change in the weeks and months to come.
Thankfully though there was some activity last weekend as Arsenal hosted their showpiece pre-season competition ‘The Emirates Cup’ – unless you have been living under a rock you would know that The Gunners lost one of their two matches while Sevilla had a 100% record and yes you guessed it Arsenal still won the trophy.
I guess if it is your competition then you get to set the rules, one of those rules was the fact you got a point for every goal scored. Off the back of this stupid rule it did however give me a great idea. That of course being the question:
“What if the Premier League handed points for every goal scored”
So with that in mind I have taken last season’s final Premier League table and added a point for every goal scored – in the link below you will see what effect that would have had on the standings at the end of the campaign7
Would Tottenham end up pipping Chelsea to the title, could Arsenal or Manchester United make it into the top four and would anyone be in for a shock relegation. Also which clubs benefited the most from the rule and who did it cause real problems for.
