The race for Robert Snodgrass heats up

After the news yesterday that Burnley had a bid for £10m accepted for Robert Snodgrass there has been an additional twist in the tale Today. It’s like the saying goes ‘You wait for one bid for Robert Snodgrass and then three come along at once’

That’s because both West Ham and Middlesbrough have also seen bids for the Hull midfielder accepted in the last few hours. Both bids are to believed to be in the same region as the one that Sean Dyche tabled on Wednesday and it now leaves the former Norwich and Leeds midfielder with a decision to make.

Marco Silva is obviously loathed to sell arguably Hull’s best performer this season but with Snodgrass wanting a move away but at the same time not necessarily forcing one it seems quite apparent that the Scottish international sees his future away from The KCom Stadium.

The question now will be where will he choose as his new home ground. Burnley fans would have been excited at the prospect of a new arrival at Turf Moor but they will have competition now, perhaps not as much from Middlesbrough but certainly from West Ham.

For The Hammers it represents a bid that is reportedly more than treble then their original offering a few weeks ago. At the start of the month David Gold and David Sullivan only were prepared to pay £3m but with Burnley’s bid blowing them out of the water, they have been forced to act accordingly.

Does that now make West Ham the favourites to land the services of Snodgrass? Arguably so, in my view they are at the top of the pecking order followed by Burnley and then Middlesbrough. But ultimately it will come down to who is prepared to pay Snodgrass the most when it comes to discussing terms.

Middlesbrough certainly need a creative spark in their side as they are the league’s lowest goalscorers at present. They may have purchased Rudy Gestede and Patrick Bamford in this window but they need someone who can supply the service and Snodgrass could be that man, especially if Gaston Ramirez completes a move to Leicester.

So the race for Snodgrass hots up, whoever pulls of the signing will be very happy but regardless of where he goes it does look good for Hull. The only hope now is that the £20m that they are set to recoup in this past week is reinvested back into the squad.
