It’s Philippe Coutindough as Liverpool star signs new deal

After months of speculation linking Philippe Coutinho away from Liverpool it looks as if those rumours can be put to bed with the news that the Brazilian international has signed a new deal with the Merseyside club, and what a handsome deal it has turned out to be with the 24 year old now set to earn £150,000 a week, which in turn makes Coutinho the clubs highest paid player.

Coutinho who was signed by previous boss Brendan Rodgers for £8.5m from Inter Milan back in 2013 has often been linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona and with the Catalan giants long term admirers of his talents it has propelled Liverpool into offering Coutinho a new deal so as to assure his future at the club.

When signing Coutinho was quoted as saying “I signed this new contract to stay here for a few more years because it’s a great honour for me. “It gives me great happiness because I was welcomed here with open arms by everyone at the club and the supporters right from my first day.”

The Brazilian who missed the last month of the season due to an injury sustained against Sunderland has scored 34 goals in 163 appearances for the club during his three and half seasons spell at Anfield. But with that new contract in hand the hope will be that there are many more goals to go alongside the appearances that he will be set to rack up over the next few years.

It’s also a massive positive for Liverpool and testament that they can keep hold of their big stars, there were possible parallels with Luis Suarez and his departure to Barcelona but with Coutinho putting pen to paper it shows a statement of intent and that Jurgen Klopp is planning on building something special at Anfield.
