Norwich vs Watford – Match Preview

Norwich go into this game knowing that it’s win or bust in terms of Premier League survival and even that might not be enough if results at Sunderland go against them, It’s going to be a tense 90 minutes at Carrow Road in a situation that isn’t really in their hands

The find themselves in this precarious position in no small part due to defensive lapses that have been all too apparent this season. Saturday Lunchtime being a perfect example as Sebastien Bassong misread the flight of the ball which allowed Wayne Rooney to nip in and eventually lay the ball on a plate for Juan Mata

That Juan Mata goal consigned Norwich to defeat and they are now 4 points of safety. Although Alex Neil gave the right soundbites in his post match interview there is almost an air of resignation from pundits as they feel that defeat to United could be the final nail in the coffin

But while it’s still mathematically possible they have to keep fighting and the saving grace could be that they are up against a Watford side with absolutely nothing to play for. This is a game that they feel they have to win, while to be frank they simply have to.

The only thing that Watford have to play for is making sure Quique Sanchez Flores still has a job at the start of next season. They wouldn’t have done his cause all that much after defeat to Liverpool on Sunday but let’s not forget on the grand scheme of things it has still been a solid season in their return to the top flight

A win for Watford could see them move as high as 11th by the end of the night but their form has been incredibly patchy as of late with The Hornets only registering 2 wins from their last 10 matches, that and the goals have dried up since the turn of the year

Troy Deeney’s brace against Aston Villa to give his side a dramatic 3-2 win 10 days ago would have bucked the trend somewhat but the fact that Odion Ighalo seems to missing in action must be somewhat of a concern to the Ex Atletico Madrid Boss

I have a feeling Norwich will win this game as there is so much riding on it but unfortunately for them I also think Sunderland will win and in turn they will find themselves relegated with Newcastle. A home win but it won’t be enough for The Canaries.
