- The juggernaut which is Manchester City once again rolled past what was put in front of them as it is now 28 points from 30 for Pep Guardiola’s men
- A win over West Brom sees them continue their unbeaten start to the season and the question may already be can they become the 2017/18 version of the invincibles
- The 3-2 scoreline does perhaps suggest that it was a close game but it was more that City were not quite as ruthless as they perhaps could have been
- Not to mention the fact that Nicolas Otamendi gifted Matty Phillips what would prove to be a late of consolation
- For City the win was the most important thing, while for West Brom they would just like a win
- It is now eight games since they last earned three points, the longest streak in the Premier League at present
- Late drama at Selhust Park as Crystal Palace came from 2-0 down to snatch a point in the 97th minute
- In fairness the point was nothing short than what Roy Hodgson’s men would have deserved and had they not got anything it would have been harsh on them
- But West Ham and ultimately Michail Antonio will have to shoulder the blame for poor game management
- The Hammers winger just had to keep the ball in the corner but his ludicrous decision to cross the ball and a meek one at that gave Palace the chance to roll the dice one more time
- A gamble that ultimately paid off, delight for Palace and despair for West Ham
- The post match interviews pretty much said it all
- Slaven Bilic looked almost haunted after that result, to be honest you can hardly blame him
- The bromance between Jurgen Klopp and David Wagner will have been on hiatus for 90 minutes as the two managers went head to head yesterday
- Klopp would be the one smiling at the end after Liverpool came out on top
- It was a much needed win for Liverpool after their heavy defeat at the hands of Tottenham last weekend
- The fact that Dejan Lovren pulled up lame in the warm up may well have been a positive omen
- And the fact that they earned a clean sheet would have not gone unnoticed
- Huddersfield’s resolve was solid in the first half and even though they rode their luck after Mohamed Salah’s spot kick was saved they were not all that threatened
- That said it was only going to take a goal for Liverpool to finally get in control
- Soon after the restart they got exactly what they deserved thanks to Daniel Sturridge
- From there on in they never looked back and they now find themselves back in the top six
- Arsenal stay 5th but managed to close the gap on their North London rivals Tottenham with a win at home to Swansea
- It is five league wins from five at The Emirates for Arsenal this season but they had to do it the hard way after going behind in the first half
- Sam Clucas’ opener suggested there could have been an upset on the cards
- But goals from Sead Kolašinac and Aaron Ramsey meant that Paul Clement’s men had to make the long trip back to South Wales empty handed
- Swansea will now be keeping a keen eye on events at Leicester as a point for Everton later today will see them drop into the bottom three
- Manchester United vs Tottenham in more depth
- Chelsea may well have won by a single goal but the scoreline does not tell the full tale as they heaped more misery on Bournemouth
- Alvaro Morata should have done better in the first half as he spurned the opportunity to put the champions ahead
- Eden Hazard’ goal would prove to be the difference as Asmir Begovic will undoubtedly be disappointed that the ball crept in at the near post
- A final surge for Bournemouth bore no fruit but Chelsea were good value for three points as they close the gap on Tottenham
- Although they are still nine points league leaders Manchester City
- Finally Stoke earned a much needed and somewhat surprise win over Watford
- It is now two defeats in a row for Marco Silva’s men as they drop to 7th in the table
- Darren Fletcher’s 16th minute goal was the difference as Mark Hughes’ men now move up to the relative sanctuary of 13th in the table
- The clean sheet also means they are no longer the team that conceded the most goals in the Premier League at present
- That unwanted record goes back to Crystal Palace
