Manchester United vs Norwich – Match Preview

Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney is expected to make his comeback from an ankle injury.

Ander Herrera and Chris Smalling have also returned to training this week and could feature but Bastian Schweinsteiger is suspended.

Norwich defender Andre Wisdom has a hamstring problem and won’t face United.

Declan Rudd is expected to continue in goal. Matt Jarvis is back in training and could return after Christmas.

Editor’s Note: Manchester United haven’t had the best of times as of late, dumped out of the Champions League by Wolfsburg and a miserable defeat away at Bournemouth has seen the pressure cranked up on Louis Van Gaal.

The fact that Pep Guardiola could be potentially waiting in the wings either hasn’t helped matters either and with United fans getting more vociferous in their complaints about United’s style of play then Louis Van Gaal could really do with masterminded a victory this afternoon at Old Trafford.

His United side find themselves 4th in the table at present but that’s more due to the other teams not taking up the opportunity to surpass them, it’s those spurned chances that are keeping United in a Champions League place for now anyway 

The Red Devils haven’t won any of their last 3 league matches and saw their 4th 0-0 of the season against West Ham a fortnight ago at Old Trafford. If there is a repeat of that result at home to strugglers Norwich the pressure is going to be cranked up on Van Gaal even further.

They play host to a Norwich who finished last week’s game against Everton the stronger side but in the first half the game should have been put to bed had it not been for Romelu Lukaku not bringing his shooting boots.

A battling point there looked quite a good result straight after the game but then their apparent relegation rivals Bournemouth and Newcastle pulled off shock victories and they now find themselves in the bottom three

Norwich’s problems lie in Defence where they have conceded the second most goals this season and even though United are goal shy as of late, I think The Canaries are going to struggle today as United should make this a routine home win. Should
