After a perfect four from four in the Premier League and getting one over his arch rival Jose Mourinuho, Pep Guardiola will now look to begin his assault on the Champions League and look to deliver a first ever trophy at this level for the blue half of Manchester.
City’s campaign starts with a home tie against Borussia Moenchengladbach and the German side will be a familiar face. These two sides met in the Champions League at the same stage last season with City running out winners on both occasions.
Last season City went as far as the Semi Finals before meekly going out to eventual winners Real Madrid. The hope now will be that Guardiola can take this side one step further and go on to win the final in Cardiff next May. The former Barcelona and Bayern manager can recall Sergio Aguero to the side after domestic suspension.
Claudio Bravo grabbed all the headlines on Saturday as his debut appearance for City left a lot to be desired. He was largely at fault for the goal that let United in the game and almost did his best to give The Red Devils a share of the points with countless opening day blunders. That said you would imagine he will be donned with the task of wearing the gloves again Tonight.
‘Gladbach’s preparations for this tie would have not been the best after they tasted defeat on Saturday Afternoon. They were soundly beaten 3-1 away at Freiburg and they currently sit 10th in the Bundesliga after the opening two matches.
City have eased past all before them so far and you would be hard pressed to see any different when Andre Schubert’s side come to town. I’ll go for a routine home win this evening as City continue their perfect start to the season.
