Leicester vs West Ham – Match Preview

Leicester are now 3 wins away from the perfect fairytale season and again they have the opportunity to heap the pressure back on Tottenham and go as many as 10 points clear for at least 24 hours. If they are to do that they are going to have to beat a West Ham side that have already thrown a spanner in the works of both Tottenham’s and Arsenal’s title hopes this season.

Every week we keep saying when are Leicester going to collapse and they can’t last the distance but the collapse is yet to happen and it’s looking more and more like they will go all the way and secure a first ever Premier League title.

Last time out they won at Sunderland but a glut of goals by their recent standards. Ok it was a 2-0 win but again it’s not necessarily the performance that matters it’s getting the points on the board. Claudio Ranieri’s side were frustrated for large periods of the game but Jamie Vardy has found his scoring boots at just the right time, it was his brace that was the difference and made sure that they came away from The Stadium of Light with all 3 points.

It was also a personal milestone for Vardy as he scored his 20th and 21st Premier League goals of the season to narrow the gap to Harry Kane in the race for this season’s Golden Boot to just a solitary strike. So it could not only be a team accolade but a personal one for the England International

This Afternoon Leicester are going to go up against a West Ham side who are still in with a shout of finishing in the Top 4 at the end of the season but with 3 consecutive draws you get the feeling they may have missed their opportunity to heap pressure on the two Manchester sides.

Last weekend saw one of if not the game of the season so far as West Ham and Arsenal played out a 6 goal thriller at Upton Park. With Arsenal 2-0 up it looked

like game over but enter Andy Carroll whose sensational 8 minute hat-trick put West Ham ahead, although unfortunately for West Ham and Carroll it wasn’t enough to win the game as Arsenal managed to nick a share of the points.

If you were a West Ham fan you might feel there is some sort of conspiracy launched by UEFA and The F.A. for them not to get in the Champions League next season. The trio of London Derbies has seen some very dodgy refereeing decision which has cost them 4 if not 6 points, 6 points which would see them as high as 4th right now. Maybe it’s karma for such a good Olympic Stadium deal but that’s a topic for another day.

In Midweek their F.A. Cup Upton Park leaving party was ruined by Manchester United as they fell to a 2-1 defeat. Slaven Bilic will no doubt be disappointed that there is not at least one Wembley trip as a reward for their efforts this season but if they can secure at least a Top 6 finish then the campaign has to be qualified as a massive success.

As mentioned previously West Ham have already thrown a spanner in Tottenham’s title hopes and all but killed off Arsenal’s so the whole of North London will be hoping that West Ham can do their cross city rivals a massive favour.

It’s not going to be easy for Leicester but there’s absolutely no reason why they won’t continue their run Today, as much as it pains me to say it I reckon it will be a Leicester win as they move another massive step closer to the title. Home win for me.
