Leicester vs West Brom – Premier League Match Preview

The final Premier League fixture of this extended weekend takes us to the King Power Stadium as Leicester who currently find themselves in the bottom three play host to a West Brom side who have not won any of their last five matches.

It is fair to say that both teams could do with a much welcomed win. Leicester so as to get away from the relegation zone, while West Brom need a result to kickstart their season. After successive wins at the start of the campaign the Baggies have drawn three and lost two.

Leicester are in a precarious position but a win would change all that especially as there is an ever growing number of teams that are currently on 8 points. A win for Craig Shakespeare’s men would see them move as high as 13th in the table and all of a sudden they can start look up the table then opposed to over their shoulder.

But this season has only warranted one win so far and that came at home to Brighton in the second weekend of the campaign. Since then they have only managed to pick up two draws, the second of those came away at Bournemouth before the international hiatus.

It was a game with little to write home about as they and Eddie Howe’s side played a stalemate at The Vitality Stadium, but if you are to take positives from this at least it was a point on the road and also Bournemouth did not manage to go above them in the table.

There was little to celebrate with West Brom’s draw before the international hiatus as Tony Pulis would have undoubtedly felt that it was two points dropped instead of a point gained at home to Watford, especially so when Richarlison could his second of the game for the Hornets in the dying seconds of the game.

That would have undoubtedly been a disappointment for Pulis not to have held out for the win, a result that would have sit in the top half of the table at the start of today. They currently find themselves in 11th although a win tonight would see them move up to 9th.

The fact that neither team has picked up a win in their last five matches could suggest that confidence is low in both camps but you have to say it is not for the want of trying. Leicester have certainly played better than their performances have suggested while there is never a lack of effort from any team that Tony Pulis puts out.

But with West Brom’s form not really pulling up any trees as of late, Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare will identify this fixture as one that is winnable especially when coupled with the fact they have the home advantage, not only that but the man who took over from Claudio Ranieri could do with a win just to ease the pressure on himself.

Thankfully I do feel that Leicester’s home advantage will be the key in getting the much needed result tonight and to give their league position a large shot in the arm. It won’t be good news for Stoke fans who will drop into the bottom three but I can see the Foxes earning a slender home win and moving up the table.
