Real Football Man All of the Football, All of the time
Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester are finding life as defending champions somewhat difficult but then again they ever expected it to be easy. They are still looking for their first win of the season and play host to Swansea on Saturday hoping to repeat their comfortable 4-0 win of last season.
That win all but gave Leicester the Premier League title as Ranieri masterminded a win over compatriot and long time friend Francesco Guidolin. That was at a time when Swansea had assured safety from the drop and were in somewhat of a celebratory mood of their own, but they’ll be no favours at The King Power Stadium on Saturday as The Swans have a long season infront of them.
While Leicester are yet to get a first win, Jamie Vardy is yet to get off the mark in the league and his record goalscoring run of last season seems that of a distant memory now. He like thousand of Leicester fans will be hoping he can open his account against Swansea.
He may be looking for his first goal but more worringly is the fact is the fact that he hasn’t recorded a shot on goal yet. It’s obviously not a crisis yet but you get the feeling that the longer the run of not scoring continues the more pressure it will heap on the England international. That said it’s amazing what a goal can do to change the narrative of any story and should he score today then it will all be back to normal.
Goals also seem to be somewhat of a problem for Swansea but there’s is more the wider question of who will actually score them. Fernando Llorente is yet to open his tally while record signing Borja Baston is out injured until after the international break, it could be a long afternoon for the South Wales side.
Leicester haven’t really showed the quality what lead them to the league title last season but they should be able to put that right against this Swansea who are looking short of any real impact up front. The Foxes to finally begin their hunt of defending the title with three points at home this afternoon.
