Leicester vs Manchester City – Match Preview

Leicester’s two leading scorers Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez were both substituted at Anfield on Boxing Day but are fit to face Manchester City.

Danny Drinkwater could return from a hamstring injury.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is unlikely to feature after suffering a recurrence of a calf injury against Sunderland.

Fit-again striker Sergio Aguero will play but Pablo Zabaleta and Fernando will not be rushed back into action.

Editor’s Note: Leicester lost their first game in 10 matches on Saturday as they were beaten 1-0 by Liverpool, tonight they face a big test as to whether their magical season will start to derail in the shape of Manchester City.

With wins for Arsenal and Tottenham yesterday it’s now 2nd plays 4th but to be honest I don’t think anyone would have seen themselves writing that sentence at the end of 2015. Much of Leicester astonishing run is down to the form of their key men Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, the good news for Claudio Ranieri is that they are both fit to start this evening.

Danny Drinkwater could also be set to return Tonight for The Foxes who it must be said missed his energy from Midfield during their defeat at Anfield. A win this evening for Claudio Ranieri’s Men would not only take them above the hallowed 40 point mark but would also return them to the top of the table, but with the visit of Manchester City that isn’t going to be an easy task. Then again Leicester have defied the critics so many times, there is no reason why they can’t do it again.

The play host to a City side who won comfortably at home to Sunderland on Saturday but the bad news coming out of that game is that Vincent Kompany’s Cameo was a very short lived one as he suffered a recurrence of the injury that caused his prolonged absence. Leicester and Jamie Vardy in particular will be looking to take full advantage of this.

Someone else who is raring to go is Sergio Aguero, he didn’t feature on Saturday but looks set to start as he looks to reignite his stuttering season due to injury. By Aguero’s standards he hasn’t got the amount of goals that he would have liked and will no doubt be looking to take his frustrations out on the Leicester back line as they look to leapfrog Leicester and close the deficit at the top to just a point.

Claudio Ranieri is going to have to pick up his Leicester charges tonight and get them to bounce back in the best possible fashion if he doesn’t want the campaign to slip away, I think unfortunately for Leicester it’s going to be 2 defeats in a row for The Foxes as City will look to bridge the gap on Arsenal as we end the first half of the season. An away win for me
