That’s the question that everyone has been asking over the weekend ever since Arsenal triggered the Leicester Strikers release cause with a bid believed to be around but certainly not below £20m
But will Arsenal get their man, you may remember they had a protracted release clause with Liverpool and Luis Suarez back in 2013. Just because a value has been met doesn’t necessarily mean a transfer is imminent
A lot will rest with the decision of Vardy. It seems as if the behind the scenes talks have gone smoothly and it is now a straight choice between staying with the Premier League Champions or moving to last season’s runners up
Arsenal have made a very handsome offer in terms of wages and although Leicester probably won’t be able to match that then they will still be able to flex their financial muscle and offer Vardy an improved contract from the one he signed in February
Will the decision come down to whether Vardy thinks Leicester have peaked with their fairytale title success in May. Perhaps the England International may feel that a move to Arsenal could sustain him playing at the very highest level for more than just a season
With Arsenal’s Champions League pedigree than a top 4 spot is almost a given. Maybe Vardy feels that he can be even better himself when playing with real world class talents such as Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez
Of course that’s not to take anything away from the efforts of Leicester last season but was that just an absolute freak season where they gave absolutely everything and will now struggle to match that next time around
If Vardy is to move to Arsenal then time is certainly of the essence especially with England jetting off to France Today to continue their Euro 2016 preparations
Roy Hodgson would rather not have transfer talk clouding the England Camp over the next few weeks, so he will definitely have a vested interest in this but there’s only so much he can do
The decision now rests with ex Fleetwood man and what a decision he has to make. Hopefully we will have an answer later on.
