Jamie Vardy can’t party this Weekend while Dele Alli is grounded

It seems as if both teams still chasing the title this weekend will now miss key players due to suspension. It was announced on Monday night after Tottenham’s draw with West Brom that Jamie Vardy will have an additional game added to his already served one match ban after his tirade at John Moss during the Leicester v West Ham clash and now Dele Alli could miss as many as three games for his uppercut into the stomach of Claudio Yacob at White Hart Lane.

Much was made of the fact that Vardy would miss the game against Swansea last Sunday and that it would have a huge effect on Leicester title hopes, truth be told it did nothing of the sort as Leicester strolled to a 4-0 win and moved 8 points clear at the top of the table.  Questions will be asked as to why the ban was announced after the draw between Tottenham and West Brom but in all fairness I think it’s Spurs fans trying to find some sort of conspiracy angle when there isn’t one to be found

The question now is whether Leicester can repeat their feat of last weekends victory without the talismanic Vardy and wrap up the title at Old Trafford to complete the perfect the fairytale. If even they fail to win against Manchester United they are still very much in the box seat and arguably even more so now that Dele Alli looks set to be out for the rest of the season due to a violent conduct charge.

It’s a probable sad end to the season for the newly crowned Young Player Of The Year and one that has lessened Tottenham’s already slim hopes of doing the unthinkable and overturning a 7 point deficit to snatch the Premier League title from Leicester. It’s these acts of petulance that will need to be iron out of his game especially with EURO 2016 around the corner. The last thing that is needed for Alli is a Beckham-esque style retaliation while playing for England, the repercussions and damage to an already burgeoning career could be huge.

Both squads have shown that they have enough talent to replace key players, although with their luck with injuries this season that has rarely been the case. If the title race is going to go to at least Monday night then Tottenham are now going to have to win at Stamford Bridge without the excellent Alli. A difficult task has been made all the harder but in all honesty I think it might be a case of after the Lord Mayor’s show as I believe we will be seeing the title race being won at Old Trafford on Sunday. Then Jamie Vardy really can have a party
