It’s Hurt Zouma as Chelsea Defender out for 6 Months

A serious injury blow for Chelsea and Kurt Zouma as the Defender has been ruled out for 6 months due to a cruciate ligament injury which was sustained on Sunday against Manchester United.

The 21 year old landed awkwardly as he want up for an aerial challenge and was stretched off after a delay of around 6 minutes to the game. It will be a massive disappointment to Zouma who now misses the chance to represent his country on home soil at this Summer’s EURO 2016.

You would think at his age he will represent France in plenty of major tournaments that this news has to be a bitter pill to swallow for the Defender who has made 32 appearances for Chelsea this season.

As one door closes for Zouma it does re-open for Gary Cahill. Cahill was reportedly angling for a move out of Chelsea in January as he had been demoted to the bench since the return of Guus Hiddink to the club. The England International was concerned that a lack of first team Football could scupper his own EURO 2016 plans but now he looks set to feature between now and the season and therefore strengthening his own major tournament chances.

Does the injury to Zouma even give us another twist in the John Terry contract tale? – With Zouma not set to return until August and now set to miss any pre-season preparation will that mean Chelsea give Terry another 12 month contract who will Roman Abramovich decide that enough is enough and look to youth instead and promote someone from within. It will be an interesting few months at The Bridge, to be honest it’s never really dull there is it.
