Huddersfield vs West Brom – Premier League Match Preview

West Brom may have started the season well but that is all but a distant memory now as they have failed to win any of their last eight Premier League matches, today they make the journey to Yorkshire to face Huddersfield in search of a much needed victory.

Tony Pulis‘ men have slid down the table and currently find themselves 15th in the Premier League just two points clear of the dropzone. They could be in the bottom three as we go into the final international break of the year but that would take quite the combination of results to go against them.

That said though even for the club’s personal pride they need to be looking to put this barren run to an end as it is the longest streak without a win in the Premier League at present and ultimately the longer it continues the harder it will be to end it.

Whether this means that the pressure is on Pulis in terms of his job security remains to be seen, there will obviously be some discord from the fans but the West Brom board will still feel that the Welshman is the right man for the job, this however is a situation that could change should they slide even further down the table.

Last weekend they were the latest team to be rolled over by the blue machine of Manchester City, the scoreline of a 3-2 home defeat suggests that it was a close encounter and although West Brom did make a good go of it you would have to say that the scoreline did not really tell the full story.

That said West Brom will not be the last team to face Manchester City and not come out alive this season and they will now identify today’s fixture with Huddersfield as one in which they can hopefully earn a first three points since August.

Huddersfield come into this game after being soundly beaten by Liverpool last weekend at Anfield. Much and perhaps even too much was made of the bromance between Jurgen Klopp and David Wagner and it would be the latter who would be smiling the most after a 3-0 win for the Reds.

That result is not going to ruin their long standing friendship and for 90 minutes it was non existent which in fairness is the same that you could say about Huddersfield attacking endeavour on Merseyside last weekend, after the victory over Manchester United a fortnight ago the two performances were almost like night and day.

But when you consider that no one expected the club to get anything from the two fixtures they can have little complaints with three additional points than people gave them hope for, ultimately it is fixtures like the one this afternoon which will define whether or not you stay in the Premier League.

Huddersfield currently find themselves in 12th position although a win could very well see them move back into the top half of the table, they will certainly fancy their chances against a West Brom side that cannot seem to even buy a win at the moment.

But both clubs have scored a lack of goals this season, just seven for Huddersfield and nine for West Brom so whether either side has the cutting edge to kill off the other remains to be seen, that said I think it may well be the Baggies using up their ninth life as they fail to win again today, I might even go for Huddersfield to nick this one.

Here is what social media thinks will happen – you can still vote on the outcome
