Guest Article – Leeds Run Over By Tractor Boys

Time for another guest article as Maz Brown who you can follow on twitter returns, Maz is a Leeds fan and once again will be venting after a second successive defeat in the space of two weekends. As always Maz the floor is now yours…

Coming off the back of an embarrassing 2-1 defeat to Newport County in the FA Cup, Leeds United came into this league game knowing they needed to get back to winning ways and they needed to put in a far better performance than the one they had mustered a week beforehand. They traveled to Portman Road and having won 3-2 at home earlier in the season, the odds looked good in the away side’s favour.

The first 30 minutes or so seemed to be scrappy and nothing worthy of a mention happened aside from an injury to United’s Pawel Cibicki. But on the 37th minute mark, the game turned on its head quite literally when Eunan O’Kane was sent off for an off the field incident involving himself and the Ipswich defender Jonas Knudsen. This was the second week in a row that a Leeds player got sent off with Spaniard Samu Saiz serving a six game ban after spitting at Newport County’s Robbie Willmott.

The second half was to see the only goal of the game and it came from the home side when Bersant Celina scored a great 30 yard effort to give Ipswich the lead. However, 10 man Leeds weren’t going to roll over and let Ipswich walk all over them. They pressed forward with chances of their own and Liam Cooper really should have levelled things up 10 minutes from time. However he didn’t and Ipswich took all three points.

Leeds will be looking to make amends with a win against Millwall on Saturday and with new signings Laurens De Bock, a Belgian left-back bought from Club Brugge and Adam Forshaw, a midfielder from Middlesbrough included in the squad, there’s plenty of opportunity for a positive result to arise.

Thanks Maz, here is hoping to a upturn in fortunes this coming weekend and you have something to positive to write about in the future!
