It wasn’t a particularly easy evening though for Didier Deschamps man as they fell behind to a Emil Forsberg goal after the break. The RB Leipzig midfielder stunning the Stade De France to give a post Zlatan era Sweden the lead.

If anything that strike seemed to wake France up as soon as just three minutes later in the 57th minute Manchester United’s Paul Pogba was on hand to level matters and by the 65th minute the turn around was complete.

Dimitri Payet was the man who rightfully got the plaudits last night and it was he who scored the winner for France. He capped a bright performance with the decisive goal, turning the ball in from close range after Sweden goalkeeper Robin Olsen fumbled.

That win puts France top of Group A with a three point lead over Sweden.
