Real Madrid regained their place at the top of La Liga after a 2-0 win away at Espanyol. Los Blancos were joint of top with arch rivals Barcelona going into last nights game but with a one fewer game played they had the opportunity to once again extend the gap to three points.
They may have been without Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale last night but it didn’t show as they brushed past the challenge of Espanyol. James Rodriguez put Real in front in first half stoppage time while Karim Benzema added a second with twenty minutes to go to wrap up all three points.
